You can see why
Bamboo is illegal in the United States. If you wish to see where hemp was heading one only needs to look at bamboo.
Bamboo was outlawed in 1918 citing the "Plant Quarantine Act of 1912 by the Secretary of Agriculture. Green bamboo, seeds, Rhizomes, cannot be imported into the U.S. except for experimental or scientific purposes If we cannot propagate what grows in the U.S., we are out of luck.
At the insistence of the timber, and cotton industry lobbyists, all of the USDA programs were "defunded" in the late 1960's.
BAMBOO CAN COMPETE
"Considering the efforts against bamboo; bamboo is considered a threat to Oil, Coal, Wood, and Petrochemical Industries."
Legal battles are raging in the U.S. banning bamboo from being planted. There are over 1200 species of bamboo are separated into two classifications. "Running" Bamboo and "Clumping" Bamboo. Running bamboo is considered to be an invasive plant and is being systematically outlawed. Clumping bamboo is easier to control and is less likely to invade other lawn spaces nearby due to its shoots expanding more gradually under the soil. The bamboo stalks that grow up from the soil stick together in one location as opposed to spreading out. For these reasons, clumping bamboo are not considered an invasive species. However, both classifications are being outlawed.
Industrial hemp is legal to grow in more than 30 countries. The United States recently legalized the cultivation of hemp. Millions of dollars worth of hemp are imported into the United States each year in order to fulfill the growing demand for hemp products. The annual retail sales for hemp products was estimated at $620 million in 2014. Much of it is being sourced from Canada, China, and other countries.
Industrial hemp cultivation was given a boost in 2014, when agricultural legislation in the USA introduced the concept of “industrial hemp”, meaning the plants containing less than 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (the active substance of marijuana).
President Donald Trump on December 20, 2018 legalized hemp by signing the 2018 Farm Bill. The legislation removes hemp from the list of federally controlled substances, including products made with derivative extracts such as cannabinoid, or CBD, oil. The legislation also allows Farmers growing hemp to apply for Federal Crop insurance and other assistance.
This is the first step in the creation of a hemp and bamboo based bioeconomy. Associations like Vote Hemp, Hemp Industries and Nutiva made it possible!
Today with Industrial Hemp legalized for consumer products. The Evolution is upon us.
"Hemp is a widely fought for commodity. Create”.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF HEMP & BAMBOO
OF THE WORLD'S CLIMATES
USES AND GROWING
hemp & bamboo
HEMP AND BAMBOO ARE DIFFERENT
BOTH PLANTS HAVE THE SAME WATER, SUN, AND CLIMATE NEEDS.
BOTH PLANTS ARE FIBER CROPS.
BOTH PLANTS HAVE MEDICAL USES.
BOTH PLANTS ARE PROCESSED THE SAME WAY.
BAMBOO RHIZOMES STAY IN THE GROUND.
ALL CANNABIS CAN GET YOU "HIGH"
INDUSTRIAL HEMP CANNOT GET A PERSON "HIGH." INDUSTRIAL HEMP IS VERY DIFFERENT THAN WEED OR POT.
THE DIFFERENCE IS
THC IS THE INGREDIENT IN WEED OR POT THAT AFFECTS THE MIND.
THERE IS VERY LITTLE OF THE EUPHORIC INGREDIENT IN INDUSTRIAL HEMP
ALL BAMBOO IS INVASIVE
THERE ARE OVER 1200 TYPES OF BAMBOO.
BAMBOO ARE SEPARATED IN TWO CLASSES.
"RUNNING" (INVADES YOUR YARD)
"CLUMPING" (STAYS WHERE YOU PLANT IT)
CLUMPING TYPES OF BAMBOO ARE "TREES" THAT ARE USED IN ITEMS LIKE FLOORING, FURNITURE, LUMBER, PAPER AND MORE!
Bamboo and hemp can localize supply chains and bring manufacturing back to the U.S. Bamboo & hemp can rebuild the middle class by creating jobs and a future for college graduates.
The majority of the issues we protest stem from the use and sale of fossil fuels. If we decrease the demand for oil used in materials; the Keystone project, The Tar Sands, and arctic drilling could not be financed. No Profit = No Pollution!
Both plants have been used in treatments for various illnesses, and cancers. Hemp is well known to treat seizures among other illnesses. Bamboo is used in remedies for children's feverish disorders and epilepsy.
Bamboo and hemp can support businesses in all industries. The small business owner can create jobs, and deposit profits in credit unions. New alliances and SUPERPACS can be funded from biobased industries to compete with fossil fuel lobbying dollars.
